Defensive Driving in New Jersey
FAQ's / Help

Why take our course?

A. Drivers who participate in DefesiveDrivinginNewJersey.com will benefit in several ways. Our course is approved by the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle commission, so you can be certain your course completion will be honored. Any traffic citations you receive will have points attached to them. The conviction appears on your record as well as the points, which can lead to a license suspension. Upon successful completion of our course, two (2) points will be removed from your driving record. You may also complete our course for an insurance reduction. Check with your insurance company to see if you are eligible for a rate reduction. Your employer may also want you to complete our program to reinforce safe driving habits and enhance your knowledge of traffic laws. Additionally, you may take our course voluntarily at any time should you desire a refresher course on traffic safety. Attention Parents! Many of our customers have their teenagers take the course as a way of helping to ensure their safety behind the wheel.

Q. How quickly can I finish this course?

A. The course is designed to take you six (6) hours to complete. It is a timed course, so you are required to spend a minimum amount of reading time on each section before you may proceed to the next section. A timer appears in the upper right corner of each section. You may proceed to the next section when the timer reaches 0:00.

Q. Does the course cost anything?

A. Our new jersey defensive driving course is affordable for every driver. Depending on your Court and eligibility for Special Discounts, our everyday low price is just over 6 dollars per credit hour and goes as low as $40 for the entire course, which includes all of the following:

* All elements of your course, including chapter reading, multiple choice quizzes and final exam, and your graduation certificate. There are no additional fees.

* Immediate access to the site - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Regular classroom defensive driving courses charge similar fees but don't offer the convenience of a course that fits any schedule, or the peace of mind that 24/7 Live customer support provides.

Please keep in mind that New Jersey defensive driving schools are a privately-operated industry. You will be required to pay a course fee whether you sit in a classroom or select GardenStateDriver.com. The tuition you pay guarantees that you will receive the finest educational materials, the best customer service and the most dependable and hassle-free on-line program in New Jersey.

Q. How can I pay for the course?

A. You have several convenient payment options: credit card, check by phone, and money order or check by mail. For credit card payment, after you register for the course you will be linked to a completely secure credit card page where you can pay quickly and effortlessly. The site is encrypted to make your on-line purchase safe. You may also call us toll-free and pay by check over the phone, or you can mail a check or money-order to our office. Our mailing address is: Garden State Driver, 130 W Pleasant Ave #239, Maywood, New Jersey 07607. If you choose the mailing option, we must receive your payment before your completion certificate can be mailed.

Q. What is the cancellation/refund policy?

A. If for some reason you are not satisfied with our program, you may cancel and receive a full refund as long as you have not completed the entire program.

Q. How do I register for this course?

A. Registration for this course is easy! Simply close this window and go to the “Quick Start” section on the right of our homepage. Select your course, enter your name and zipcode and click the "Start Course" button. Then just complete all the appropriate fields and you can start right away. You may also call us toll-free at 877-972-4665 any time to register over the phone. Either way, it just takes minutes, and you can start the course right away.

Q. I need to change my personal information on my enrollment. What do I do?

A. If any information needs to be changed, please contact our office toll-free at 877-972-4665. We will take care of it immediately.

Q. What if I have no e-mail address?

A. It is not necessary to have an email address to take our course but you need one if you want confirmation that we have received your payment and you have completed the course.

Q. I use AOL and I keep getting knocked off line. What should I do?

A. If you are using AOL as your Internet service provider, you will have activity requirements while online. During some of the longer course sections that require more reading time, there is a chance AOL will knock you offline unless you remain interactive with AOL. Therefore, do not leave the screen alone for any great length of time - remain interactive with the screen. Our programmers suggest that if you need AOL to log onto the internet, you might want to minimize AOL and log on to the course with a different browser (ie. Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, etc.) If you have questions on how to access your course through these browsers, please contact our office toll-free at 877-972-4665.

Q. Is there any special computer or download requirements to participate in the course?

A. You do need to download Flash Plug-in (Version 8 and up). You will also need any modern internet browser, including: Internet Explorer 6+, Mozilla Firefox v.1+, Netscape 7+, or Opera 9+. You can download the Flash Plug-in from www.adobe.com and the various browsers can be found on their respective webpages (www.microsoft.com, www.firefox.com, www.opera.com).

Q. How many questions do the quizzes have?

A. There are 5 easy questions per quiz. The questions are all true/false and multiple choice.

Q. How many questions does the final have?

A. There are 25 easy questions on the final exam. The questions are all true/false and multiple choice and you can take the final as many times as you need until you pass.

Q. Must I complete the course in one sitting?

A. Not at all. This course was designed to give you complete flexibility. Most people complete the course over a period of days or, if they have enough time, even weeks. The course is broken up into fourteen chapters. Each chapter has a few short sections. You can complete one section, for example, log off, and then log back on at a later time. The computer will record the section you have completed and give you reading credit. You can log on and off as many times as you wish until you complete the program. You can also do the entire course in one sitting.....it’s all up to you.

Q. What happens if I suddenly lose my Internet connection?

A. Some Internet users are knocked off line from time to time. This may result from a lost Internet connection, another call interrupting your connection if you are on a single line with call waiting, or simply because your computer crashes. Remember, as you complete each section of the course, your progress is recorded. Completion of any given section cannot be lost if your quiz answers are submitted to the system and graded on screen. Being knocked off line at that point will only bring you back to the start of the next section; it will not delete the previous section. Our website is unable to control your Internet connection and inactivity on your part will not result in our system knocking you off line. Any activity requirements will be on the part of your Internet service provider.

Q. Will my access codes to the course expire after a certain time?

A. No. You will always have access to the course as long as you have not completed the program or have cancelled. Our course does keep track of your progress, and if something goes wrong, simply log off, log back in and continue where you left off.

Q. How do I receive course credit?

A. Credit is awarded by virtue of your interaction with the course and knowledge of the material. You are tested on your knowledge of the subject matter through a series of short quizzes and a final exam that must be scored with a passing grade of 80% or higher. After you have successfully completed testing you will graduate. The certificate of completion will be sent to you.

Q. How long does it take to get the certificate?

A. Completion notification for ALL students are mailed from our corporate offices to the student at the address on file. If you need your certificate right away, our company offers expedited mailing options that will allow you to receive your certificate more quickly.

Q. I was disqualified, what do I do now?

A. If you are disqualified from the course, you will need to call our office toll-free at 877-972-4665. Reasons for disqualification include, but are not limited to: clicking the back button while inside the program, not answering a security question correctly, or leaving the program active without any student interaction with the program.

Q. How can I learn the status of my completion certificate?

A. In order to get the status of your certificate, please call our office toll-free at 877-972-4665.
